Matt’s Story
Growing up, two old black walnut trees were a large presence in Matt’s childhood yard. When he was away at college, the trees got diseased and his Dad had to get them cut down. When Matt returned for the summer, he was very upset that no one, including his very handy father, had thought to keep the wood for carpentry projects instead of having it carted away and made into firewood. After reflecting about it, Matt realized that not only was it a sad waste that those beautiful trees couldn’t find a place inside the house, but he was mainly upset that he wasn’t using his woodworking skills anymore. Years later, you can now find Matt happily working on a variety of woodworking projects for clients all over the Finger Lakes. He loves using local materials when possible, and focuses on bringing together family and friends with gorgeous wooden creations.

Perfection can take time, but the end result will be worth it. Some of my projects begin with slabs that need months to dry out, while others use locally sourced lumber that is ready for anything. I’ve created custom kitchen islands, unique bar tops, and family keepsakes in many forms.
